"[Ritija’s] story at the Apollo blew the roof off. Her story was filled with humor and heart, and she stole the show...Hers is a voice that can build real connection and understanding."
Sarah Austin Jenness, Peabody Award Winning Producer of “The Moth”
In business, storytelling has enabled me to turn complete detractors (I mean, rolling their eyes in meetings) into a company's biggest champions and revenue generators. It's helped me achieve unprecedented employee retention. And most importantly, it's helped me to have honest conversations with my colleagues to identify and solve problems that would have imperiled our company. We know that storytelling is about connection--but more than that, it's about authenticity and building trust.
I learned this firsthand when my personal storytelling took off in 2013, after earning my MBA from Columbia Business School and working as a strategy director. My storytelling led to an invitation to perform at the Apollo, and also empowered me as a startup executive, where I worked with clients to successfully support fundraising to a Series A. As I've honed my unique perspective in both business and storytelling, I have enjoyed opportunities at NPR, the National Cathedral, the Lincoln Theater, Avalon, and more, on top of awards and generous grants. However, while I love the sheer joy of performing, I also love the honor of bringing others' stories to light--and I can't wait to hear yours.
But wait, there’s more.
I’ve worked with over 100 individual business professionals to help them craft and deliver their personal or business narratives. They’ve come from American Express, CNN, Google, Samsung, Twitter, and more. This is in addition to the numerous organizations I’ve supported with highly customized programs and leadership within the storytelling space.
As an artist, I’ve received numerous grants and awards for my performances and unique contributions to the storytelling community. These generous awards have come from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, Cultural DC, and the Mellon Foundation.
My corporate work has included nearly twenty years in strategy for a Fortune 500 company, a large government contractor, and a highly successful healthcare startup. I received my MBA from Columbia Business School, my MPP from the McCourt School of Public Policy (Georgetown), and my BA from the University of Chicago.
